The southernmost and greatest of the Weather Hills, once crowned by a watch-tower of Arnor holding one of the palantíri, raised not long after Elendil founded the North-kingdom. Destroyed by Angmar in T.A. 1409, its ruin remained a landmark and refuge; here on the night of 6 October T.A. 3018, the Nazgûl attacked Frodo's company, and the Witch-king wounded Frodo with a Morgul-knife.
