Isengard

Rohan · fortress

A great circular fortress made by the Men of Númenor within the ring of Nan Curunír to guard the Gap of Rohan, later given over to the Wizard Saruman as its keeper. In T.A. 3019 Saruman's industry turned it into an armed camp, until the Ents stormed and flooded it after the Battle of the Hornburg.

Chronicle

1. TA 2759 — Steward Beren gives the keys of Orthanc and lordship of Isengard to Saruman.
2. TA 2953 — Saruman fortifies Isengard and closes it to all but his own servants.
3. TA 3019 — The Ents storm and flood Isengard, ending Saruman's power there.
