Helm's Deep

Rohan · fortress

A narrow, high-walled ravine cutting into the White Mountains in the Westfold, named for King Helm Hammerhand who took refuge here in the Long Winter. Guarded by the Hornburg and the Deeping Wall, it withstood Saruman's great assault in T.A. 3019, the Battle of the Hornburg.
